Guidelines for Inter-Library Loan
1. Inter-Library Loan
1.1. Southern UC Library provides Inter-Library Loan Services (ILL) for users to obtain books or articles in periodicals that are not available in the Library collections.
1.2. This service will assist Southern UC lecturers and postgraduate students to obtain the desired books or photocopies of articles from other libraries in Malaysia. This service is provided to support research, teaching and learning programs of the University College and requests are restricted to materials for these activities only.
1.3. There will be charges applied for each item requested.
2. Application Procedures
2.1. ILL service is only applicable to items which are NOT AVAILABLE in Southern UC Library. Therefore, applicants are required to check the availability of the item in Southern UC Library catalogue https://library.sc.edu.my/ and E-Resources before they request for ILL service.
2.2. After confirming the item is not available in Southern UC Library, applicants are required to check its availability in other libraries’ catalogues in Malaysia.
2.3. AApplicants are required to fill in the Inter Library Loan Form (SPP) at the Circulation Counter with required details (refer to the Sample Form below).
2.4. The ILL processing time will be fixed on every Tuesday.
2.5. The Library will make effort to obtain the material in the shortest time possible. However, we cannot guarantee that every application will be successful as it will also depend on the reply of the lending libraries.
3. Applicants’ Responsibilities
3.1. Applicants have to follow the rules set by the lending libraries (e.g. overdue fine, charge for lost item, etc.)
3.2. Number of request (including fail ILL request) and charges:

- RM2 processing fee per item (non-refundable).
- A minimum pre-paid postage of RM10 per item will need to be paid when collecting the ILL items. The balance of the pre-paid postage will be refunded to applicants if there is any.
- All payments must be made in cash.
3.3. Cancellation is not allowed once the request has been processed.
3.4. Applicants will be notified by email when the ILL item arrives.
3.5. Requested item may be collected at the Library Circulation Counter during our opening hours.
3.6. Collect the items you have requested and return them promptly in good condition.
3.7. Applicants still have to pay for the charges even if you do not collect the requested materials after being notified of their receipt.
3.8. The ILL item needs to be returned to Southern UC library 10 days earlier than the due date set by the lending library.
3.9. Renewal of ILL item is not allowed.
3.10. Applicants are responsible for any fees incurred because of overdue, misplaced or damage.
